Code of Conduct
This program adheres to the code of conduct for players, coaches and parents provide by US Lacrosse and Positive Coaching Alliance. We require all coaches and youth players (boys & girls) to become member of US Lacrosse.General
All players and coaches will adhere to the Positive Coaching Alliance (www.positivecoachingalliance.org) and will, at all times, Honor the Game and respect:
- the game, by playing hard and refusing to bend the rules to win
- their opponents, by playing "fierce and friendly"
- the officials, by showing respect even when we disagree
- our teammates, by being committed to them on and off the field
- our self, by holding ourselves to a high standard even when others do not
US Lacrosse and NTTL believe that all players, coaches and parents need to realize that a "honoring the game perspective" needs to replace the common win-at-all-cost perspective common in many sports. If a coach and his/her team have to dishonor the game to win, what is this victory really worth, and what message does this send to our young athletes? (from US Lax coaches education program).
We do want to win and we will win, but we will do it with honor and it will be because we have the more experienced and skilled team.
Parents
All parents are encourage to cheer for their children, their teammates and their opponents. Remember, our participants are young players, some of which have just started to play the sport. Keep your cheering positive, both towards your own son/daughter, and to their opponent.
Coaches
All coaches are encouraged to direct positive comments towards their players and opponents. Coaches at the younger levels are encouraged to assist/coach ALL players on the field. This is the time to teach the sport to all and any positive comments are appropriate.
Players
All parents are encourage to cheer for their children and their teammates. Remember, Keep your cheering positive, both towards your own son or daughter, and to their opponent.
Referees
NTTL reminds all to not "ride the refs" during games. Keep your comments as positive as possible. Any extreme verbal abuse of referees is prohibited and may result in a penalty or an ejection (player, coach or parent).
