TRAVEL LACROSSE
FALL LACROSSE
North Texas Travel Lacrosse has teamed up with East Wylie Lacrosse to bring players together in one combined team for the Fall season as well as a combined travel team for tournament play. For the inaugural season, NTTL will be the backbone of this program, providing returning players, coaches and most importantly, a seasoned group of members that have been involved in sports for nearly 30 years. These members will begin the process of putting together a strong and committed board that will ensure East Wylie Lacrosse remains at the forefront of the Lacrosse community.
In any new program it is not enough to have players, a few parent volunteers and a coach who may have played in college. A lot of new programs believe that if they can roster enough players, everything else will just fall into place. This is most definitely not the case with youth sports. The real requirement is to have program coordinators who understand youth sports and high school sports. This is even more important for a lacrosse program in Texas where football is the primary sport. Without organization leaders who understand how to bring a group of diverse families together, the program will struggle, players will come and go and board members will resign.
Are you one of those community members that is willing to help? Our program is in need of volunteers who have a solid background in youth sports and is willing to put forth a small amount of effort into the youth of our community.
East Wylie Lacrosse will play their first season as part of the Mustang Fall Lacrosse League which is backed by the North Texas Chapter of US Lacrosse. Players who sign up for and play on the East Wylie Lacrosse team will automatically be eligible for participation on the North Texas Terror travel team at no extra charge. Registration for the initial East Wylie Lacrosse season will be "at cost" only, to ensure the team gets heavy participation for all new and returning players.
North Texas Travel Lacrosse was founded by the President and 4 other board members from Wylie Lacrosse, in June 2009. The program started out with the 10 best players from Wylie Lacrosse and quickly added more, at one time rostering 22 players. The goals of NTTL are to allow players to attend tournaments that their high school team may not participate in and to place players from North Texas in front of college coaches and area lacrosse representatives, as this exposure is currently not available at the THSLL D3 level. In doing so, NTTL has facilitated the opportunity for players to roster with local college teams in Oklahoma & Texas and currently rosters the best players in Wylie and surrounding areas.
Do not be turned away if you do not attend WEHS, as NTTL can and does recruit players from all over North Texas. This year NTTL will again roster some of the top lacrosse talent in the area. These players have the talent and desire to play at the collegiate level, several of whom are in contact with local and out of area colleges.
If you attend WEHS, are in the WEHS school district or simply want to elevate your game by associating with the best players that Wylie has to offer let us know. Even if you play for another lacrosse team in the Fall and Spring seasons, NTTL is a place where you can get extra play time and compete at a more advanced level.
East Wylie Lacrosse and North Texas Travel Lacrosse are non-profit organizations relying solely on player registration and donations from local Wylie businesses. We appreciate the support that Wylie has provided the lacrosse community and look forward to many years of cooperation.

TEAM UPDATES
2010 Travel Season
Colleyville Winter Tournament - Jan
The North Texas Terror lacrosse team took second place in a local tournament held this weekend. The NT Terror is comprised of 5 Seniors, 5 Juniors and 3 Sophomores from Wylie High School, 2 Juniors from Community High School and 1 Sophomore from Sachse High School. The Terror fought hard and never gave up, leading to an impressive victory over Keller High School in the last game of the day.
"Our boys played great. They knew what they had to do and they executed against 3 of the top D3 teams in North Texas." says Mike Howard, Head Coach and Founder of North Texas Travel Lacrosse. "We are at a level that lacrosse in Wylie hasn't seen in 4 years."
Aggieland Classic - Feb
After a rough start with motel cancellations and an error on the motels part we got to the field on Saturday at 10 AM for a noon matchup against The Woodlands.
The Woodlands struck early and often and the pressure defense was too much for the Terror to remain in possesion of the ball long enough to slow down the tempo. The fast pace quickly tired out the players resulting in bad passing and slow reactions. The defense had a second wind in the fourth quarter, shutting down the scoring of Woodlands, but the offense couldn't get into a rhythm, ending the game without a score and losing 12-0.
Saturday afternoon the Terror drew TMI for game #2 and came out strong on defense and ending the half down 1 with the score 2-1. The third quarter turned out to be the downfall of the game, when the defense allowed 2 goals right off the bat. The offense couldn't score in the fourth ending the game with another loss and the score 5-1.
The Terror got to the field at 8 AM for its Sunday matchup against St Michaels, but the other team wasn't there. St Michaels finally showed up 5 minutes after game start and we agreed to a compressed schedule to try and get a full game in. The Terror played strong and focused with the score going back and forth until the last 20 seconds of the game with the score tied 3 - 3. When St Michaels picked up a ground ball and raced to the goal, they had a 4 on 3, shooting past Rhylan as the clock wound down with only 5 seconds remaining. The Terror failed to clear the ball past the mid line in a heartbreaking loss after such a tremendous effort by the team.
Louisiana Jamboree - Mar
The Terror traveled to Louisiana to take on Loyola Prep and Capt Shreve as part of their Jamboree. The team had a few members unable to make the trip leaving us with only 11 players.
Against Loyola, it was obvious that the long drive and too little sleep the night before was taking its toll. Loyola had a very deep bench and were well coached, racking up a 6-0 lead by the half. Evan N, got his first goal midway through the third, but a 12-1 loss left the team drained.
The Terror lined up against Capt Shreve on Sunday at 3:00 PM, but a string of touch penalties early, disrupted the focus of the team and we were unable to recover, resulting in 12-2 loss. Cody B got a goal late in the game when Dexter fouled out and had to be replaced. Cody grabbed the short stick, headed down the field where he picked up a ground ball and drove in for the score. Steven and Colton worked together up top when Steven drove the middle and quickly passed off to Colton waiting about 15 yards out to rip one inside the right pipe.
All in all the weekend was a fun trip, but a less than stellar performance sends us back to the basics in practice.
